Things to Do in Parry Sound
Boating – Being a life time boater and cottager on Georgian Bay, I may be somewhat prejudice when I say, that this area is world class when it comes to boating. Thousands of places to explore or just enjoy an afternoon cruising in the sun, boating on Georgian Bay is unrivaled. Bring your own boat, big or small. Or take in an afternoon leisure tour boat cruise in the Bay aboard the MV Chippewa III or the Island Queen.
Fishing – When you say ‘Georgian Bay’ to a fisherman, watch their eyes light up! The vast number of inland lakes and the Bay are the playground of many fisherman, from near and far. There’s opportunities for the beginning angler to the seasoned pro: cast a line from your boat or the shoreline, or take in a fishing charter. One big perk about fishing in the Parry Sound area…. there’s something biting in every season. Ice fishing is very popular.
Beaches – Waubuno Beach is town’s official main beach, located at 27 Prospect Street. There’s also the location of the ‘old town’ beach, near the Coast Guard Station. There’s an unlimited number of access points to Georgian Bay and some fantastic spots at the inland lakes for swimming. Or just stretch out on a blanket, with a good book, bask in the sun and melt the afternoon away.
Camping – If you like the outdoor camping experience, you’ll love what the Parry Sound area has to offer. Numerous Ontario provincial parks: Killbear Provincial Park, Massasauga Provincial Park, Oastler Lake , Killarney Provincial Park, Sturgeon Bay Provincial Park. There are also several wonderful private campgrounds and parks to choose from.

Hiking – The rugged wilderness and shoreline of the Parry Sound/Georgian Bay area is the perfect spot for hiking The Parry Sound Fitness Trail winds it’s way along the gorgeous shores of the town, do it on foot or bike it The Rose Point Trail is another trail There are numerous trails in the area provincial parks which have more challenging routes with amazing scenery.

Kayaking/Canoeing – The town is located on the shores of Georgian Bay and is part of the Georgian Bay Biosphere Reserve, a special, protected area with waterways perfect for savouring the great outdoors It’s a great way to explore the inland waterways or the bay BYOC (Bring Your Own Canoe) or BYOK (Bring Your Own Kayak), or rent from White Squall Outfitters or at Oastler Prov Park.
Shopping – If you’re in the mood for a little retail therapy, check out Downtown Parry Sound, the ‘south end of town’, and the newly evolving Parry Sound Mall, plus a variety of shops sprinkled here and there.
Spas – If some ‘me’ time is the order of the day, book a service with one of the local spas in the Parry Sound area The perfect way to round out a day, here in paradise.
Eating Out – Numerous places in Parry Sound to enjoy a meal with a view of the harbour or just grab a quick bite on the fly. Some chain restaurants and privately owned establishments.
Picnics- In this playland, there’s loads of cool spots to enjoy a picnic the local beaches, the waterfront, secluded shorelines, park benches by the bay.
Snowmobiling – Hundreds of miles of groomed trails for sledding in the area and numerous snowmobilers clubs.
Cross Country Skiing – Nearly 20 miles of groomed trails for enthusiasts, at the Georgian Nordic Ski Club, just a very short drive from Parry Sound, for a variety of skill levels.
